NKC Tracking Test 2025

NKC Tracking Test – November 9th, 2025

The Nebraska Kennel Club held their Tracking Test November 9, 2025 at Chalco Hills Recreation Area in Omaha, NE.

The test filled with 3 TD and 4 TDX entries.  We had 2 Australian Shepherds, Akita, Golden Retriever, Basset, Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen and a Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen.

Our judges this year were Carol Ruthenberg and Kim Kearfott.  Both judges laid some amazing tracks.

Plotting day was cold with rain off and on and test day was cold and windy.

We had 2 passes this year:

TD Track 2 was an Akita.  This team started strong on the first leg.  The dog did seem to give each corner a thorough check. They did get to the glove and I did get their picture as the handler proudly raised it to the judges.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Stone and Umbro Moro Stone Jones BCAT TKN VHMA on their new Tracking Dog Title.

TD Track 3 was an Australian Shepherd.  This team started strong!  On the last leg the dog got distracted by the gallery, but with some patience the handler got him refocused and made it to the glove.

Congratulations to Saige Bell and Highpoint’s Something About That Sound on their new Tracking Dog Title.

Sadly, there were no passes for the TDX’s.

Pictures will be posted on our website:  Nebraska Kennel Club – Nebraska Kennel Club

I would like to thank Jan Hague for taking such good care of our judges.

I would like to also thank all of our volunteers which included some new people interested in tracking: Dawn Thrapp (Chief Tracklayer), Sharon Brewer (TD Tracklayer), Ron Weaks (TD Tracklayer), Dian Quist (TD Tracklayer), Annie Kelley (TDX Tracklayer), Shelly Rehmeier (TDX Tracklayer), Mary Kramer (TDX Tracklayer), Dawn Thrapp (TDX Tracklayer), Lori Tranmer (Chief Cross Tracklayer) Rachael Ptacek (Cross Tracklayer), Jim Clayshulte (Cross Tracklayer), Erica Radach (Flag Carrier), Bre Clayton (Flag Carrier), Ellen Plouzek (Driver), Jan Hague (Driver for Judges), Ron Weaks (Raffle tickets), Norine Nieman (Treasurer) and everyone who stayed to help clean up afterwards.

A HUGE thanks to the following people and businesses who donated to our event and raffle to help make this event possible.  The raffle and money goes towards our expenses.
